Bear markets are hard times to find projects that you want to actually write about. Lately I’ve been entirely consumed with trying to avoid projects, liquidate NFTs, and short the market early and often.
Finally I stumbled on a project worth my time and energy, perhaps yours too.
Before we get into the WHAT of Rifters, it’s important to know the WHO. Especially in bear markets. Head founder, Andrew Ringlein, president of Communi3, stealth launched Community First Gaming (C1) with multiple team members from C3. He has founded and sold two other companies previously for tens and hundreds of millions of dollars respectively. This guy knows what he is doing and grew up building his own “choose your own adventure” games. They already built and play-tested Solana Winter War which is a plant vs zombies reskin, but shows you the chops of Andrew and his team.
If you are a fantasy lover, and rpg game lover this is right up your alley. And the best part is that season one has a $1,000,000 prize that goes to the winner. The game itself is genius as the development required to pull off a game of this magnitude is actually quite low.
So what type of game is this?
It will be a combination of a pc based browser game that is also heavily played out and influenced by actions in discord and twitter. This is Ready Player One meets DnD and MMORPG with the incentives of League of Legend pro prizes.
How was C1 able to put that together? 10 SOL mint that pre-sold over $1.3M and roughy half of the 7,777 collection with the remainder being minted on Monday, October 3rd at 4pm UTC.
Is there any chance at whitelist anymore? No.
Is there any chance at public? Secondary on Magic Eden.
You can earn “ash” by completing quests here. I suspect you may be able to buy items, power ups, or DSR for ash. DSR stands for Dark Sol Rune, which is intended to have a 1:1 relationship with SOL. Pre-mint DSR spiked 2-to-1 over SOL as people clamored to acquire the last valuable pre-sale spots, which evaporated rapidly.
Another fascinating element of this story is that the game itself isn’t just playable with only the 7,777 Exile NFTs that will be minted. There are 10 partner factions from within the Solana community: Taiyo Robotics, Trippin Ape Tribe, Communi3, Cets on Creck, Honeyland, The Stoned Frogs, Solana Monkey Business, Degen Ape Academy, Astrals, and Rude Golems. If you own one of these partner NFTs you can play the game for free and if you win you get 50% of the prize pool, and the faction DAO receives the other 50% distributed how they see fit.
Check out how much the Arch-Lich is auctioning for, which will undoubtedly sky rocket an hour before the timer runs out. Go check out their website: rifters.io, watch the video, read the white paper and come join me in my quest for glory… just make sure you get yourself a Trippin Ape Tribe unless you want to be impaled by me on the battlefield!!
There is so much more to this game that I could spend tens of thousands of words explaining it, but really it comes down to are you interested in gaming and specifically strategy gaming, and does $1M spur you to action? If so, go check it out as this is a slam dunk since I haven’t even gotten into the financial incentive to mint at 10 SOL and be rewarded with 4 NFTs, the subsequent three all being worth a guaranteed 10 SOL buyback from the team itself… Rifters is just the beginning too. Solana Winter War 2 is in development by C1 gaming as well and yes all your in-game NFTs, and items earned are sellable for SOL.
